IDemoGames and Miniwargaming have teamed up to provide a compelling terrain solution for lovers of grim dark settings like Warhammer 40K and Ravaged Star!

The Ruins of Perdition terrain really captures that grim dark feeling with ruined gothic style architecture. The set is magnetizable (using 3/16th x 1/16th magnets) which allows for near limitless combinations and builds.

However, the features don’t stop there. All of the walls and columns are designed to be stored flat; which allows you to store all of the components for a 6×4 table in an 12 Liter “Really Useful Box”! Anyone with an existing terrain collection will know how much of space saver that is!

What’s on Offer:

So, for this campaign, there are both digital STLs and physical prints available. The STL files are actually already completed as the design work was funded on a previous “Frontier” on the Myminifactory platform. Miniwargaming is printing the physical sets in house in their “MWGForge” FDM print farm so I expect the turnaround time on this campaign to be relatively short.

Digital All-in ($100):

The image for all of the included STL files is actually so large that I can’t add it here! The files include a dizzying array of ruined walls, floors, connector columns, stairs, platforms, scatter terrain, craters, barricades, bridges, ruined statues, and portals. I recommend checking out the full campaign here to see all of the files, but here are some samples:

Best of all, the files are designed for supportless FDM printing!

Physical: Half Table ($150)

The first of the physical pledges available is perfect for skirmish games like Kill Team, providing you with enough terrain to comfortably fill a 3×4 table with ruins.

Physical: Full Table ($250)

The “Full Table” pledge gives you enough terrain to fill a 6×4 table with ruins, or add plenty of elevation to your skirmish games that play on a smaller footprint.

Physical: Mega Table ($450)

The “Mega Table” takes the “Full Table” pledge and adds in scatter terrain, barricades, and some very nice centerpiece statues! This package gives plenty of cover and line of sight (LOS) blocking to make sure that any melee armies aren’t alpha-striked off the table in the opening turns of the game.

Physical: The Perdition Table ($900)

This pledge is essentially the physical “All-in” bundle. You get the Full Table pledge, and then one of every add-on available in the campaign.

Add-Ons:

Speaking of add-ons, there are:

  • Magnets
  • Barricade Bundle
  • Small Statues
  • Medium Statue
  • Destroyed Medium Statue
  • Big Statue
  • Scatter Bundle
  • Bridge and Ladder Bundle
  • Ruins of Drakenfell STL All-In (a fantasy terrain set)

Shipping:

Mercifully, the shipping costs are quite reasonable thanks to the fact that the terrain doesn’t take up that much space and is quite light. Also, at the time of writing this, these items are not affected by the ongoing US trade war with everyone else on the planet.

My Thoughts:

So, Matthew from Miniwargaming sent me some samples to paint up for the campaign…and I was genuinely impressed. The terrain is quite robust and sturdy once assembled and does indeed fit in a small form factor box for storage. Here are some pictures of my finished pieces:

Now, if you have never painted an FDM print before, it is very easy to do. Using an airbrush will speed up the process, but it isn’t required. In fact, some of the pieces in the above gallery utilized rattle cans instead of an airbrush, and I would challenge you to decipher which is which! However, there are some some nuances with FDM prints that make them unsuitable for some common techniques like washes. I go over all of this information in the tutorial video below:

My video was featured on the campaign page as well! That is a first for me, so massive thank you to Matthew for giving me to the opportunity to paint some of these ruins. One of these days I hope to make my way up to Canada to get some games in at the MWG Bunker and fight over Perdition!

The campaign is scheduled to end on the morning of June 19th. If you made it this far, I would highly encourage you to check out the campaign page here and see everything on offer. In my opinion, the best bang for your buck is to grab the digital all-in pledge, and get yourself a 3D printer (I highly recommend the Elegoo Neptune 4 series). That way, you can print the table of your dreams and keep the cost down ($300 USD + filament cost at the time of writing). If you don’t have a desire to learn 3D printing though, the half and full table pledges are an absolute bargain when compared to the terrain offerings from Games Workshop.
