With so many tiny tanks to play with in Warhammer Legions Imperialis, I had the idea to paint each of my Solar Auxilia tank detachments in a pseudo-historical color scheme so I could tell them apart at a glance.

In this video, I will show you how to use the Dunkelgrau Modulation Set from Ammo by Mig to achieve a nice German grey with as little effort as possible. The modulation technique has been used by the scale modelling community for a long time and is perfect for this application.

If you are not familiar with the technique, it is actually quite simple. The idea is to airbrush 3-5 different shades of the same color in a way that adds volumetric highlights in areas of interest. This simulates light hitting a monochromatic surface (albeit, not necessarily in a realistic fashion). After a few quick and easy airbrushing steps, I use enamel/oil paints to add some scale appropriate weathering.
